Father Mills was raised in Ocala with his twin brother and two older sisters. His mother is from Trinidad and Tobago, his father hails from Florida. The warmth of God’s heart and God’s Florida sun are two gifts acknowledges Father Mills. His family passed down a love of the Church and faith in Jesus. His home parish was Immaculate Heart of Mary in Candler and participating as a family in the celebration of Mass and parish ministry was a part of his salvation history.

He heard the Lord call him to the vocation of priesthood during his first year of high school as he participated in the celebration of Mass with his family. Initially struggling with feelings of inadequacy and doubt, Father Mills eventually came to trust God’s call and entered St. John Vianney College Seminary in 2015, after graduating high school. He remembers his prayer, “God, You are the greatest joy that I have in my life. There’s nothing that helps me as much as You do. And so, if You’re calling me to this then help me to trust You because I think what You call me to is going to be what makes me happiest.”

Father Mills is grateful to be assigned to St. James Cathedral and share Jesus the Eucharist, knowing that as he receives the Eucharist, he is also receiving the eternal love that is given for you parishioners, that you are a part of God’s love for one another. Welcome Father Mills with great joy as you shine God’s light to your path, wherever you may be.
